Today I took part in a Salford Advantage class online, with the aim of understanding better how to move around LinkedIn learning. The class was led by one of the librarians of the university. In this session (which promptly started at 12pm) I got to learn and understand various interesting aspects of the platform. LinkedIn Learning, in its early days, used to be called Linda.com which then got purchased by the social media platform LinkedIn. On here, there are thousands (more than 16.000) courses. An interesting aspect is that you can combine the two platforms (LinkedIn Learning and LinkedIn) together so that it is possible to showcase the new skills acquired. Students get their account for free, if not it can cost up to £180 a year. Ebba (the librarian) showed us the main homepage on which students and professionals can choose within three areas of interests: business, creative, technology. On LinkedIn Learning it is also possible to save a course you find interesting into the My Learnings section so that you can always look back at them (if needed). Another aspect of the platform I wasn't aware of, is that there are courses for every occasion. For instance, it is possible to learn a new language, learn how to sing, learn how to play the guitar etc.
In the past few years, I have been using LinkedIn Learning quite a lot and I feel quite confident using it. For instance, even just for this specific module, I have been using it often, to learn new skills and expand my knowledge on various subjects. However, attending this lesson made me realise how lucky I am, as a student, to be able to use this wonderful service. And the fun part is that I could literally learn whatever I want using it.
