For today's session we were asked to do some research about websites/blog pages we found appealing and also to research a designer and an a social media profile that captured our attention.

To start with I decided to find out more about a website (containing a blog) that I found extremely well done. The one I chose, as it is shown in the picture above, is a web page called manual. This page had all the elements for being an excellent example. The design was extremely neat and clear. The simplicity and minimalism of the design really inspired me and gave me so many ideas for my future website. For instance, the way the menu was set was incredibly easy to read but at the same time efficient. The menu bar simply included a showcase of their works, their profile, a journal, the contacts and a shop. My website will be following a similar pattern. I want my viewers to not get lost and confused while looking through my page. What I am going to show in the menu is going to be a home page (which is going to include my blog and my instagram page), a section dedicated to my personal info and contact, my online portfolio, my CV and my LinkedIn account. Obviously I might change my mind throughout the process.

Then, on the Internet, I discovered this very interesting designer Rebecca Brower. Her website was a perfect example of a well done website. This included her works with some descriptions, the PDF file of her portfolio, some more information about her career and her CV. Just like the website I researched before, also hers was very neat and easy to read and that is definitely what I am looking for with my design.

The last part of my presentation was dedicated to researching an interesting social media page. I decided to present a page I follow on my personal Instagram account because I loved the colour coordination of her posts. Pollynor is a visual artist who creates these works concerning a representation of peoples inner demons. In my social media account (which I decided is going to be Instagram) I am going to focus my attention on the aesthetic of the page and on the colours people perceive on their feed. My page is going to be presenting all of the finished work I accomplished so far and in the highlighted stories I am going to be posting the creative process. Also, I am going to create a logo that is going to represent my aesthetic as best as I can.

Having to listen to all of my classmates presentation really helped me create a wider knowledge on a more diverse range of artists and designer and their way of setting up their own website. All of these information will definitely help me to come out with a more effective design for my own website. For example, some artists and designers like Amy Williams (set designer), Grace Yun (designer) and others had very different approach in their design. The former had a very straight forward web page with a very simple design, whilst the latter had a very interesting feature in hers (a sort of timeline on the sides that helps the viewer to scroll better the page).
