It's the first week on this new module so, as soon as we gather around in the class, Adelina talked us through everything we needed to know. This module is called "Developing professional practice" and within this course we are going to explore so many different aspects of being a designer. The module itself is going to be composed by 3 different tasks which are in a way connected to the main module of this trimester "Design in Practice". These tasks will help us selling ourselves as designers in the industry.
TASK 1: ONLINE PORTFOLIO within this task we are going to create a website in which we are going to present our portfolio to people from the industry. For this reason the whole aesthetic and format needs to be on spot and easy to read. Furthermore, on this website there will also need to be a CV section and a LinkedIn section. This website will have to represent my creative process and best works (including visuals, rendering, any art work)
TASK 2: DIGITAL PORTFOLIO This task is in a way extremely connected to the previous one. However, this portfolio will need to be a PDF file in which all of my best works will be displayed. This will officially be my portfolio as a designer so the aesthetic needs to be extremely pleasing.
BLOG AND ONLINE PRESENCE for this final task we are asked to create a blog containing critical and reflective writing about what we do throughout these first weeks (up to week 6) and also create a social media account in which we are going to sell ourselves as designer and document our processes and other academia related activities. Furthermore, on the blog we will also have to document: 10 tutorials completed via LinkedIn Learn, review a company we would like to work for and provide a SWOT analysis.
After explaining us everything we needed to accomplish for this module Adelina told us about next week sessions. On Thursday we are going to start some sessions regarding the use of cameras and Photoshop in a professional way, whilst next Friday, for her lecture we got assigned to do a quick research and PowerPoint presentation on some designers portfolios and websiteS we found interesting and presenting it to the class.
