During week eight of the Applied Professional Practice module, Lee Houghton talked us through how to face an interview. As I told myself back then, I decided to look up for a LinkedIn learning lecture just to have a recap on the most common interview questions. The main reason why I decided to do so is that I finally managed to be asked for an interview (at TESCO). The one-on-one interview is going to take place tomorrow at Tesco and I feel like listening to some more tips and advice is going to be useful. Before starting to watch the LinkedIn Learning lecture I read through the notes I took in week eight. The online course itself didn't add much to what I already learned with Lee, but it was a very good excuse to refresh my memory on the topic. For instance, I found very useful having a refreshment on the STAR technique. This method (which Lee introduced us to in the last session) helps to properly respond to employer's questions by introducing the situation, describing the task, describing what action you took in that situation and finally the outcomes. The lecturer also advised to write down on a notebook different scenarios for the questions the employer might ask and record the answers. Listening back to your own recorded voice will help you to have an impartial view of your answers. I am currently feeling very nervous about tomorrow, but I am going to try to use this method to practice on my communicating skills.
