I decided to take this online course on "Decoding Body Language" because I believe it is vital to be aware of the importance of non-verbal communication. Every movement and every little gesture we make can say a lot about our persona and can help us during stressful situation such as giving a speech or attending an interview. Everyone, even if unconsciously, is always giving away clues on how they feel in a certain situation. For instance, if you feel attacked or in danger you will tend to touch the base of your neck or f you are annoyed it will come natural to roll your eyes. Being aware of these behaviours is essential because you will be able to adjust them for every specific occasions. Also, throughout this online course I got to know a few useful tips. For instance, always give space to the person you are interacting with and do not stand exactly in front of them (instead, try to stand slightly on a side). Eye contact is fundamental and so is slightly tilting your head while listening to someone speaking to let them know that you are engaged in the conversation. Always remember to smile and to have a positive attitude. It is insane and extremely fascinating to think about all the subtle clues non-verbal communication can reveal about a person, I will definitely try to find more information about this topic. What I learned on this course is how to decode some of these non-verbal clues and how to apply the theory to the practice through some of the very useful tips I mentioned.
