For this session we focused our attention on an extremely important subject: creating the perfect CV. First of all we started off listing all the common mistakes that can occur whilst writing a CV. For instance, some of the most common mistakes (and also the most obvious) are spelling mistakes, a poor formatting and most important of all lack of evidence. Also, it is important not to over write (not more than two pages) and not to be falling into cliches. But what is a CV? a Curriculum vitae is the best way to sell yourself as a valuable employer, it is a marketing tool. Its main aim is to impress the interviewer and to showcase all of your experiences (the relevant ones). From reading a few lines, readers need to have an idea of your abilities and of the range of different skills you are able to offer to their company.
It is essential to structure your CV in a smart way therefore it needs to include your full name, followed by a contacts list. This section needs to include your email, your phone number (and your address). The first main section includes a brief description of yourself and your goals. You can then decide whether to include in this section all your skills or if to create a dedicated section. This, needs to summarize your strengths. Then, it is time to talk about your education and your studies. The last paragraph of your CV needs to include (in chronological order) all the experiences you had so far (including the job you are currently attending). It is important (but not essential) that the experiences you put in your resume are somehow connected to the role you are applying for, and if they are not you need to explain what are the skills you learned from these experiences.
Due to the fact that my curriculum is going to be a creative one, I also need to pay attention to how I design it because the visual impact of a CV can say a lot about you as a designer. That is why I am going to take my time to decide the perfect style I want to use for my resume. First of all, I am going to decide a main style I am going to use for my website and just then I will think of a design for my CV. I believe that doing so will allow me to create a cohesiveness between my website and my CV.
